What could be better than the perfect excuse to build the home theater you’ve been wanting? The New York Times recently published an interview with real estate expert Karen Benvenuto, who said that done right, a home theater would “absolutely” increase home value. She said, “We are seeing a lot of new construction that includes home theaters as a feature, because that’s what the public is looking for.”
No need for huge home theater budget
But not all media rooms are created equal. The better the design and components of your theater, the more likely it will increase the value of your home. You don’t necessarily need a big space or huge budget, but make sure you think through everything potential buyers will be looking for: good acoustics, sound management, atmospheric lighting, and comfortable seating.
And of course, quality audio/video components that are well-suited to your space. You don’t want to waste money on things you don’t need, but you don’t want to end up with something that detracts from your experience either.
